Art of War is a great book, but too many, like you, use it for hope in a time of desperation. You can find a passage for any perspective in what is admittedly and intriguing book. I'm thinking Reid just actually believed what he was saying. And I'd also be willing to bet history sides with him (let's face it, the GOPs actions in the HCR debate haven't exactly been any more admirable than a petulant teenager).
