Going Qwest Free

I was actually one of Qwests first customers. Back when they were pretty much a nobody company. They were offering cheap long distance phone service in my areas, so we signed up. It worked great.

However, as they grew, ultimately they lead us to another long distance provider and they became our local provider. Then things got bad because Qwest got too big too fast. They didn’t have enough time to grow. That’s what led to the problems.

If you have been with me for a while, you will remember that about 9 months ago, I had some issues with Qwest. And I have still never forgiven them. I guess, I have too long of a memory.

Well, for the past couple of months, I have been seriously considering terminating my relationship with Qwest. Well, in order to do that, i would have to change my ISP. For the past couple of years I have been using DSL at home to connect to the Internet, and Qwest is the only company that provides DSL service in my area.

However, I have recently discovered Wireless Internet. For less than I was paying for my DSL Internet connection, I was able to sign up with Wavepoint Networks to provide me with faster than DSL service. They aren’t quite producing as high as they would like in my area, but I do have a great Internet connection.

After relieving myself of my DSL Internet service, I was open to change to a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone. At first I was looking into signing up with Lingo, however, they wouldn’t accept my credit card. So, I ultimately had to use Vonage. So far the service has been great. There was a short time when we had to phone numbers, but we now have just one number and unlimited phone calls to anywhere in the US.

So, the best part of all of this is that I am absolutely Qwest free. They will not be getting any money from me.
